This
document teaches you to build your digital signage account structure in
MyAdTV. MyAdTV’s highly flexible account
management capabilities allow you to construct the best digital signage account
structure for your business. With
MyAdTV’s tools you can consign, collaborate, manage, and optimize your digital
signage workflow.
NOTE: Account structure figures pictured here are
labeled with symbolic names: User1, User2, AM1, AM2, et cetera for various user
accounts; Player1, Player2, et cetera for various display location
accounts. In this and other documents, a
player account is equivalent to a display location account.
1.0 Adding New User Account
The
‘starter’ account structure consists of one user account and one display
location (player) account, as shown below in Figure-1.

Figure-1 – Starter Structure
The first
step in expanding your account structure is to build a new user account. Once that is complete, your account structure
will consist of two user accounts and one display location (player) account, as
shown below in Figure-2.

Figure-2 – After Adding New User
Let’s begin by logging in to your primary or root user account. Go to http://myadtv.com and select Account Login or you can go directly to the login page by entering http://myadtv.com/login.php. The first page you see once you logged in is the Account Summary page under MyAdTV.

Under the
MyAdTV tab, select sub tab ‘Add User Accounts’

Fill in a
new logon name and password for this user account.
Use a different password
from your individual user account, especially if you may later assign this
account to a third party.
Use the
drop down list to change ‘Assign Display Location’ from ‘Do Not Assign’ to an
existing display location. In this example, we will select Player1 to be the
Display Location of this new user account. This field allows you to assign a display location (player
account) to this new user account. You have the option not to assign any for
now, assign an existing display location or create a new display location for
this new account. You will see all these options from the pull down menu.
Fill in the
rest of the contact information and click on the ‘Submit’ button. The program verifies the information you entered, then it
prompts you to continue with the payment.
Congratulations,
after completing the subscription payment process, you now have an account
structure with two users, User1 over User2, and one display, Player1.

Figure-3 – Building by Adding a User
In this
structure (depicted in Figure-3 above), User1, the root account, has more
authority (or ‘admin rights’) than User2.
User1 can view, edit, and delete content created by User2. User2 can view, edit, and delete content
created by User2. But User2 can only
view content created by User1. Of
course, ‘Player1’ displays content created by both ‘User1’ and ‘User2’
accounts.
1.1 Subscription Payment Process
Additional
new user account subscriptions can be paid monthly or by yearly. Yearly payment rates are discounted at 30%
from the monthly rates. Each new billing
is performed automatically at the beginning of that period through PayPal.
Our program
is fully integrated with PayPal. PayPal
is a secure payment management system with many useful features. PayPal accepts payment from you via credit
card (ex., Visa, MasterCard), or direct withdrawal from your checking account (a.k.a.,
electronic fund transfers). In addition,
PayPal provides complete payment history.
If you
don’t already have a PayPal account, PayPal will create one for you. PayPal requests your email address and a
PayPal password in order to create the account.
Please
ensure your PayPal password differs from your MyAdTV passwords.
1.2 Subscription Cancellation Process
When you
first subscribe to an account, you have 3 days to decide if you want to keep
the account, you will not be responsible for payment until the 3 day period is
over. You are free to cancel the
subscription at any time. While there is
no refund for a monthly subscription after the initial 3 day period, there is a
partial refund for a yearly subscription so long as the service is cancelled before 5 months of
service.
To cancel a
user account, select MyAdTV tab, User Profile sub tab, choose the ‘Account
Logon Name’, and press the ‘Unsubscribe Account’ button. To cancel a player/display location account,
select MyAdTV tab, Display Location Profile sub tab, choose the ‘Select
Location’, and press the ‘Unsubscribe Display Location’ button.
After
canceling an account, to request a refund, email a request to account@myadtv.com including the user
account logon name and cancellation date.
1.3 Aside: Alternative Approach for Display Assignment
There is an
alternative to process for display assignment.
Instead of using ‘Assign Display Location’ from the Add User sub tab,
you can edit the ‘Display Location’ from the ‘Display Location Profile’ sub
tab. This allows you to leave ‘Assign
Display Location’ at ‘Do Not Assign’ (on the ‘Add New User’ sub tab).
Go to the
‘Display Location Profile’ sub tab, select the display location you want to
view, click on the ‘Edit’ button and from the ‘Edit’ page, change the account
owner to ‘User2’ in the ‘Change Account Owner’ field.

2.0 Adding New Display Locations (Player Accounts)
We currently
have two user accounts and one display account. The diagram below shows
potential structures after adding three display location (player) accounts onto
that structure.

Figure-4 Building by Adding Display Locations (Players)
In Figure-4
above, the picture on the far right side indicates that ‘User2’ has access to
‘Player1’ and ‘Player2’ only, and ‘User1’ has access to all four display
locations. In the middle picture of
Figure-4, both User1 and User2 have access to all four display locations.
To add new
display locations (player accounts), you start by going to the ‘Add Display
Location’ sub tab under MyAdTV and fill in the business info fields, Location
Logon Name, Location Password, Confirm Location Password, and contact info for
this new account.

Next you
set the ‘Assign Account Owner’ field value.
‘Assign Account Owner’ enables you to assign which user account you want
the new display location to be under.
So, if you want ‘User2’ to have control over a new display location (say
‘Player3’), than you select User2 (or whatever the account name equivalent to
‘User2’) from the pull down menu for ‘Assign Account Owner’. This corresponds with the middle picture in Figure-4.
If you do
not want to assign ‘User2’, then select ‘User1’, and that account will become
the sole owner of the new display location.
Now, with ‘User1’ as the user account owner for new display location
‘Player3’, ‘User2’ will not be able to see the new location at all since
‘User2’ is on a separate path. This corresponds
with the far right picture in Figure-4.
Next,
choose between: creating ad content with a template and mimicking another
display location player’s content. To
do the former, select the radio button for ‘Assign Template’ and select a
template from the pull down menu. Click on the ‘See
Example’ link to view all the available templates.
To mimic
another display location player’s ad content, select the radio button for
‘Mirror Another Display Location’ and select the location to be mirrored from
the pull down menu. If you designate a player account to be a
mirror location, you will not be able to add or edit ads in that display
location. All additions and changes must
be made from the original location that is being mirrored.
Finally,
fill in the remaining contact information and click ‘Submit’. The program will validate all the information
entered. Then, lastly, to complete the
process you must choose the subscription package by clicking on the
corresponding PayPal payment button. The payment process is the same as mentioned in section
1.1. To review subscription package
details, please go to our web site http://myadtv.com and click on the
‘Price’ link.
3.0 Rearranging Account Structures
Remember,
you can always rearrange the account structures. You (User1) as the root or primary account,
control access to all accounts created underneath you. You can change the ownership of any user or player
account at any time. User ownership
changes are made from Edit under sub tab ‘User Profile’. Player or display location ownership changes
are made from Edit under sub tab ‘Display Location Profile’.

Figure-5 Rearranging Account Structures
For example,
Figure-5 above shows ‘User4’ and its two player accounts, Player3 and Player4,
being moved from ‘User2’ to ‘User1’. Now
‘User2’ has no access to ‘User4’ and its 2 player accounts.
To change
the account owner, start at the ‘User Profile’ sub tab under MyAdTV. From the ‘Account Logon Name’ pull down menu,
select the account that you want to reassign.
Then click on the ‘Edit’ button.
In the ‘Edit’ page, select the ‘Assign Admin’ radio button and type in
the logon name of the user account to be assigned to as admin.
There is no
pull down menu for ‘Assign Admin’. We allow you to assign ownership to a user
account that is outside your organization’s account structure. In that way you can pass control to a 3rd
party such as an Ad Agency or Content Management Service. ‘Assign Admin’ also
allows you to merge two or more independent account structures into a single
account structure. Please remember, when you reassign your user account through
‘Assign Admin’, the entire structure below that account moves with it. Any new
accounts you subscribe to later on will be accessible by this new Admin.
4.0 Creating a multi-level account structure
You can
create multi-level account structures with MyAdTV.

Figure-6 Account Structures with Account Managers
In theory,
you can create as many levels and as many branches as you like, there are no
limits to how large you can expand your account structure. The platform can
handle millions of branches and hundreds of levels.
In
practice, you should limit yourself to 5 or 6 levels. If you are 10 levels deep, the structure may
be too complex to efficiently manage.
Organize your structure to tighter levels to keep things manageable.
In the
right hand portion of Figure-6 above, we see an example of adding a level of account
managers between the root account and the client accounts. From your root user account, add a new user
account ‘AM1’; this new user account will automatically attach to your root
user account.
In the ‘Add
User Account’ page, select ‘Do Not Assign’ in the ‘Assign Display Location’
field because this new account ‘AM1’ will be assigned as an admin of other user
accounts. Complete the account setup and
payment process.
Go to the
‘User Profile’ page and select the user account to be assigned in the ‘Account
Logon Name’ (i.e., ‘User2’). Then click
on the ‘Edit’ button to go to the ‘Edit’ page.
Select the
‘Assign Admin’ radio button and type in ‘AM1’ and click ‘Submit Changes’. The branch
that contains ‘User2’ and ‘Player1’ is now under ‘AM1’. Repeat the same
procedure for ‘User3’.
Congratulations,
you’ve added a new level! For Player1,
the content will be coming from ‘User1’, ‘AM1’ and ‘User2’ accounts. This is a very important milestone. Using this technique, you can add as many
levels or move any branch to any new user account you wish.
5.0 Merging and splitting account structures
You can merge
two independent account structures together simply by using the Assign Admin
function in the User Profile page under MyAdTV. Using the example shown below, you can merge the
structure under ‘User5’ into the structure under ‘User1’. Here, we want ‘User5’
to be directly under ‘User1’. So in ‘User5’ login account, you go to User
Profile page and select Account Logon Name to ‘User5’, then click the Edit
button to go to the edit page. Select the Assign Admin radio button and type in
User1’s logon user name.
If ‘User5’
is a non-payment account, then you need to upgrade the account first in the
User Profile page. In other word, Assign Admin function will not turn on if the
user account is not a paying account.
You can
also elect to attach the account structure under ‘User5’ to another user within
the structure under ‘User1’, just type in the logon name of that user.
You can
split an account structure at any user node to form two independent account structures.
For example, you want to split ‘User4’ and its two displays ‘Player3’ and ‘Player4’
to be an independent structure. Go to the User Profile page, select Account
Logon Name to ‘User4’ and go to the edit page. In the Assign Admin field, type
in ‘MyAdTV_Admin’, this will split the account and ‘User1’ will no long be able
to access ‘User4’ account. Remember that Assign Admin can only be done in the
root account.

6.0 Using the MyAdTV integrated payment system to enhance your business
Content
designers, system integrators, ad agencies, and other third parties, can manage
all client account needs directly from their MyAdTV root user account. This includes ad content management as well
as client billing management. With MyAdTV’s
integrated payment system, third parties can choose between billing subscriptions
to themselves and billing subscriptions to clients directly. They have the control over how they package
their products and services.
To bill
subscriptions to yourself, simply create new user and player accounts from your
root account (with unique passwords).
You, as their ‘admin’, create content for them. Remember, individual client accounts see only
the content you put into their account; they cannot see other client
accounts. In addition, individual client
accounts are expandable to any number of user and player accounts. As an additional feature, the clients can
create their own content (from within their accounts) too. The display location players displays content
from both sources.
To bill a
subscription directly to your clients, have your clients create new Standard or
Professional accounts at the myadtv.com web site. After this client account is established,
logon to this new account, go to the ‘User Profile’ page, click the ‘Edit’
button, select the ‘Assign Admin’ radio button, and type in your logon
name.
NOTE: Starter Package accounts do not support this
‘Assign Admin’ technique.
MyAdTV uses
PayPal’s secure online payment service.
PayPal automatically debits monthly or yearly subscriptions from
clients’ credit cards or checking accounts at the end of each subscription
period.
